Members superiorparts Posted September 21, 2005 Members Posted September 21, 2005 bought a swr super redhead in november of 1999. have been using it live with a 410 cabinet until july, 2005. the first couple of years i thought the amp had a great sound but over time and probably continuous gigging the quality has diminished. i have replaced the speakers in the last two years with eminence delta bass speakers. also installed a groove tube 12ax7 tube in the preamp. i guess what i'm asking is there some reconditioning that can be done to the amp to restore the swr sound? i am not real familar with the electronic deteriation of these things. any idea's? thanks
Members jannda Posted September 21, 2005 Members Posted September 21, 2005 theres really not much you can really do your self unless your really good with electronics and have a schmatic for your amp but a good tech should be able to recondition it or you could send it back to the factory for reconditioning.(expencive) you probly need to have some caps relaced as those are ussally the first things that go but thats just a guess you don't say what the problem your having really is ie distortion, loss of power, tone?
