Members zachoff
The Bass Pod Pro is mega-sweet. I've not played through the regular Bass Pod.
Members B-Bottom
Well i just happen to be selling one. I really liked it, I just didn't have any real use for something with that many features. I'm trying to streamline a bithttp://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1040817
Members T. Alan Smith
IMHO, modelling is great to learn what head/cab combinations your prefer. They're great for demo recording too. So they have their place. However(!!!).... Like the saying goes, "ain't nothin' like the real thing" applies here.

Basically, all of the pre-sets are pretty overdone. Having said that, the most of the amp and many of the speaker models are VERY good. Some of the reverbs and things are also very impressive, but overall I don't really find most of the effects all that useful. You just need to spend some time playing around with the amp and speaker models to come up with some sounds you like. I find it amazing how close you can get to the sound of some classic rigs by GK, Eden, Ampeg, and even SWR (less impressive, but still OK). It takes time, but if you're willing to learn how to program the thing, it's really easy to make your own pre-sets and get terrific results. Remember that these are meant to be used for recording...they will generally sound like crap played through an amp unless you get rid of the speaker modeling. Members brake
thanks b-bottom, but i'm looking for a PodXT, it seems to have a few more features that I dig, and I wont be getting one anytime soon (i'll be getting it once the student loan comes in...heh)
Members chubrocker
I dig my Bass POD!!! Only about 1/2 of the amps are useful to my ears, but overall a very useful tool. I'll be using it as my back-up rig with a tube power amp. You do have to mess with it some to get the best tones. The people who say it sucks are going by the presets only and not working through the amp models, cab models, etc. I find the lo-cut effect cool---> this is where the effect on on the higher frequencies but not the lower. This is nice on chorus effect IMO.
