Members Mofopotomus Posted September 23, 2005 Members Posted September 23, 2005 My friend introduced me to this group who recently divorced their bassist. The funny thing is that I thought we were just going to jam, oh well. They tried to teach me a couple of their songs and I kept up as best I could but I was nervous as hell when I found out that they were "trying me out". The cool thing was that the guys were totally chill and i hope to jam with them sometime, but for permanent status I'm pretty sure they need somebody better than I. Oh, and on a side note I got to play through their old bassists 4x10 cab and I've never really gotten to spend any quality time with one of those babies. So yeah, I just wanted to share :-D
Members sludgebass69 Posted September 23, 2005 Members Posted September 23, 2005 Keep on pluggin away, and jam with them as much as you can. Playin with a group of good musicians will improve your playing 10x's faster than practicing on your own!
Members Mofopotomus Posted September 23, 2005 Author Members Posted September 23, 2005 totally, I plan on giving them a call later today and saying thanks
Members Perfessor Posted September 23, 2005 Members Posted September 23, 2005 Way to go Mofo. Keep playin' bass. Sounds like a good prospective band opportunity to me.
Members Mofopotomus Posted September 23, 2005 Author Members Posted September 23, 2005 hehe, thankya...though they are defenitely out of my league...we'll see.
Members BEAD Posted September 23, 2005 Members Posted September 23, 2005 My first band I joined started like that. I went over to jam with a freind and his roommates wanted to jam too. They had recently fired their bass player and really weren't just looking to jam. Maybe it's a Portland thing? Hey, if you ever want to jam sometime without getting auditioned at the same time, my drummer and I are usually game. I'm crazy busy as of Monday (school starts back up), but we could probably pencil something in sometime. I like to play big texture washy stuff that really deserves another bass player sometimes, so I think it would probably work out ok.

We're really easy going... and my drummer is a damn genius. It's always a pleasure to play with him.
Members Detox Posted September 23, 2005 Members Posted September 23, 2005 You guys have got me nervous now. I'm supposed to go to a "jam" this weekend.
Members Mofopotomus Posted September 23, 2005 Author Members Posted September 23, 2005 hehe, but as we said maybe it's just a Portland thing ya know? Like "Jam" is code for "we're analyzing your every move"
