Members Incubitabus
So recently, I've noticed that the connector cover on my Monster Speaker 1/4"-1/4" is coming loose, so I contacted Monster, and they have sent me a replacement. Heres the problem: the cable I have is a Monster Standard 100 Speaker Cable, and they sent me a Monster Instrument Standard 100 Cable. Is there a difference between these cables that I should worry about? I'm using this cable for connecting Bertha (see sig) to my GBE600. Thanks to a bang-up first show, we now have 4-6 shows scheduled in the next 2 months, so I'm going to need to resolve this issue soon. Please only respond if you are 100% sure you know the answer. Members greenshag
do not use the instrument cable as your speaker cable...instead, go to your nearest monster dealer (GC, whatever...) with the cable in hand, and ask them to do a Monster warranty exchange...problem solved. Agreed. Just exchange your bad speaker cable at the nearest G.C. at your leisure. Meanwhile, enjoy your new instrument cable. You just raped Monster. They've been raping musicians for years, so it's nice to see some payback. Well done.
Members Deville
Using instrument cable as a speaker cable is a bad idea, so don't even think about doing it. Instrument cables are heavily shielded, light gauge wires designed to carry very low powered, low noise, high impedance signals. Speaker cables are much heavier gauge wire, designed to carry high powered, low impedance signals. Guitar players can sometimes get away with it because the wattage levels for guitar amps are typically significantly lower than bass amps, but they are putting their amps at major risk if the cable shorts.
