better fix that intonation, be prepared to suck otherwise.

IE, bridge, and height of strings so they match at the 12th fret, 12th fret harmonic, and open.

otherwise, itll go seriously out of tune. might not notice it, but your pickier musicians with a deep ear (like me) itll drive em crazy!

Well how does this pop sound? Cause when iwas adjusting it i heard a pop but it wasnt like a breaking sound. The question i was asking about form is if i were to break the truss rod would it change the fret board thus making my form sloppier or would it be the same?

Okay, we understand now.

If you snap your truss rod, it will result in an ungodly amount of relief making it difficult to navigate the fretboard efficiently.

Man, I hope you didn't break the durn thing. Take it to an experienced tech for assessment...and go put yourself into "time out" for an hour.

i doubt i did. The bass plays the same and sounds the same. I dont feel any difference the in strings or the neck. I am going to music and arts to have them put in new pick ups and re-adjust the truss rod. In the event that i did break it what would the bass feel like/play like?

The reason for a truss rod is to straighten the neck and make it playable when under tension.

If it snaps, that reverse tension will effectively disappear. You will effectively have upright-like (or higher) action, and will possibly damage some other part of the bass (headstock or heel) if you try to tune it up and play without a truss rod. Due to the thinness of the neck (the fattest bass necks are quite a bit thinner than a URB neck) I wouldn't doubt that the wood itself would snap eventually.

If it plays OK your fine. If you haven't played an upright ever, imagine if your strings were 3x tighter and an inch or more off the fretboard at the 5th fret.

The thing was that it wasnt so much as a pop noise as much as a creaky noise. Sonded like the rod was stuck and needed a little more pull. COuple people have said it is tough to turn the truss rod and it gives you trouble sometimes. Im gonna get get it reset soon so hopefully they can tell me its ok(which it should be).
