$14,000 = pay off debt, buy an old sunn rig, snag this pre-gibson tobias bassnw.com is selling, and still have enough money left over for beer. :D

They probably all sound great, but those pics could've just as easily been captioned "when ugly things happen to good wood". blech. I just think their designs are visually hideous.

I can't say that I am $4-5,000 blow away with any of them either. Fodera's headstock is not an attractive design IMHO.

That single-cut was pretty bad, but the ohter two are okay.

They are a very high quality bass with amazing tone but I can't say the design is my favorite. That and if you have one everyone expects that you can play every Vic's lick out there..............which I can't.:(

+2

For $14,000 even limited to buying a bass (or a few of them), I wouldn't buy one of those.

Wow. You'd think for 5 grand they'd at least give you a decent case! The ones in these pics are too chintzy even for my SX Jazz.

:p

I work five blocks up from Bass Northwest. It's fun to window shop there on lunch break. I've actually sold more stuff there on consignment than I have bought there. But I've bought plenty...

Well, people buy ferraris and they are way past the point of diminishing returns on value. But when you make a million or more a year AND you like to dabble in bass playing, whats ten grand for a nice bass.

Seriously, that is who buys these.

that and pros who want a nice bass made mostly to their specs, with top quality craftmanship. Not to mention people like Niomosy!

When I first started posting here, I remember cursing Thunderbroom for having gear I wanted, while he was a beginner, and I was gigging a few times a week. It took me a couple of days to get over that!

While people don't need Fodera or Alembic basses to play, they don't hurt!
