Members Thunderbroom Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 Do/Have any of you "pimped" out your rigs? For our upcoming Halloween gig, I was thinking of doing something to my rig...lights...something... Any suggestions? Pics?
Members beam Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 You could get one of those small fountains that jsut keeps recylcing it's own water. Put red water in it, and set it on your rig
Members rikshaw Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 people used to put these neon rings on the speakers. i looked into it once but they were too expensive for me

Members sunburstbasser Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 I'd so totally like to pimp my rig. I'd have like fake flames on either side of my stack. LED fret markers! And stuff.
Members L-1329 Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 Oh man break out the FLEECE! Pimpin' aint pimpin' without fleece!

You just lay down a thin sheet of plastic, and put the fountain on that. It would only spill if you knocked it over
Members Thunderbroom Posted October 3, 2005 Author Members Posted October 3, 2005 This is as close as I've come to pimpin' it out: ...a lava lamp.
Members sunburstbasser Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 Remember those glow-sticks the stores all sell around Halloween? I found some glow ropes once. Same thing, but it was a rope, really thin. Cost like 1$ each. A few of those activated and placed around your speakers might looke really cool.
Members Kelemvor Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 There is some company who makes blank rack spaces with blinking lights, knobs, and sliders that don't actually do anything, but look cool. This is sad, but I've considered buying decible meters, graphic EQs, and other stuff that I would probably never need but would look awesome in my rack.
Members bnyswonger Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 Here's the Bucket full stage regalia... ...think Mexican whorehouse.

In flying we call this SIIP- Sufficient Instrumentation to Impress Passengers.
Members T. Alan Smith Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 My grill is chrome. Ain't that pimp enough? I HAVE thought of swapping out my standard bulbs for colored ones in my power/light rack.

I took the pink bulbs from my kids' nightlights and put them in my power/light rack. Shines a nice muted reddish light, instead of harsh white.
Members sludgebass69 Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 Just some blue rope lights that my daughter got me to put on the speakers....
Members MacGarnicle Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 I have a sound-activated one of these in my rack:- ...illuminating a 1-rackspace 'cutout' of the band name. (inexpensive and runs on 12v DC. Do a google search for "PC case mods" and/or "cold cathode" to find your nearest supplier.)

Members Zeromus-X Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 I used the neon rings around my speakers. On a PR410HLF, there was just enough room to fit them behind the grille. Held them on with cable ties. Worked well. We used to also put blue neon underneath all the amps and under the drum riser. Everything had this eerie glow to it, and occasionally we'd do it sound-activated. If you jumped the sensitivity up enough (stick the speaker for it inside an insulated box since it's so loud), you could make the lights only turn on when your individual instrument was playing. Or the snare drum because that just travelled through whatever soundproofing you gave it. If you don't want to spend the money on neons, rope light looks just as good provided you can't actually see the lights. If you have ports in the cabinet, toss some lights in those too. I just can't stand the look of ropelight if you can see the actual lights.
Members takeout Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 Dummy cabs with sound-activated strobes are on my list. Thanks a lot, Cheap Trick.

Members Droplaw621 Posted October 3, 2005 Members Posted October 3, 2005 corpse blood and beer cans all over the rack.
