Expensive? I paid $325 shipped from Northern Sound and Light about 18 months ago. It was a floor/demo unit with full warranty. That seems pretty middle-of-the-road to me. When I think expensive, I think Shure ULXS14 Wireless ($700 street). It is a solid unit regardless of price.

I think the one that MF has is a newer model too...something like the "G2" or something. I'm pretty sure the EW172 has been discontinuued. But, you're right, I did get a pretty good deal on it. I like the fact that both the lead guitarist and I can go wireless and there is no fighting for a frequency between us.

It came in handy a month or so ago when we were playing a party on a patio. Due to the way we had to setup, I needed to stand on the other side of the "stage" so that I could move. With a wired system, this wouldn't have been possible. It worked out really well with the wireless, and because of my position, I could hear my bass really well. I have always wanted one due to the fact that I sing most of the material in my band, play bass, and synth, sampler, some guitar, some extra percussion, and I am tired of tripping over cables:D
