for a geriatric, the guy did alright. Can't quite hit the notes the same way he used to, but you never rode into town on your John Deere, either.

 

Great show...

I saw him at the Colorado State Fair 25 years ago. He was really good. My dad knew his tour manager / bus driver. The same guy also worked for Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass, so I remember half the band being over for dinner when they were in town.

Absolutely a fantastic singer in his hey-day. He was never known for fantastic vocal range, but he knew how to voice and phrase a tune that made him sound like he was a steel guitar. My dad could sing his stuff so well (God rest his soul). It was one of those things ya got or ya ain't got.

jubilee...it's pretty nice in there now. he actually played 2 nights there. I saw the second show, and you could definitely tell.
