hey guys,

there was this talent show sort of thing at the local University and my friend and his dad work there, so we got asked to do the sound and lighting.

we agreed to do it for free, cause we new it was going to be fun, and it was, it was awesome, i didnt have a very big responsiblity, i was just in control of one of the Spotlights.

i think we did really really good, to open, once everyone was seated ( there was probably about 250 peeps), we played Kickstart my heart ultra loud, and wehn the drums start to hit in the intro, we hit the flashy lights, which change colours with the beat and stuff, and i was doing a figure of eight with the spotty,

anyway all in all we all had a great, night, and we also got to play a few songs i the end, and we got $20 vouchers at a shpping centre!!!:D:D

our band is called HeadSpace right, and we enjoyed this so much we are thinking of starting a PA hiring place, that does sound and lighting for small time performances and stuff, cool eh??

wow that took longer than i thought sorry:(

That would have been the Jim Beam band competition yeah?

We were in the Victorian heats, 2nd in category 1st round, 4th overall 2nd round.

In 3 years I am wandering over to the music industry, with a good hand in IT still. If you work at what you're planning, you'll build up a tonne of links in the network :)

I started with a Business/Computing double degree, then went back to single Computing because that was where my heart was. I now run a successful IT business, yet I knew very little about how to 'textbook' run a business when I started.

In business, what matters most is doing the job right, serving clients and customers efficently. More important in everyday service based business, is the ability to run an efficient show.

In all honesty, see what TAFE or similar can offer, see what you can do to advance your knowledge without being Uni fill-time. Not to discourage you from Uni, I think 3+ years of doing the work will benefit you greater than 3+ years of books and a sizeable HECS debt :D
