Members DerekDRP Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 How does it work? I mean when you get hungry or have to take a piss? while playing your set so on?
Members B-Bottom Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 Eat before the gig and piss before your set
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted October 11, 2005 CMS Author Posted October 11, 2005 At Yes last year, Dream Theater opened, and it was funny because from my seat I could easily see through the offstage screen....during every one of the many solo breaks the lead singer would walk off stage and smoke, and once he ran to a Porta-Potty. Now that's entertainment.
Members DerekDRP Posted October 11, 2005 Author Members Posted October 11, 2005 but what if you start to get really hugry during your set? what do you do wait till your set is done and get food?

If I get the munchies, I just grab some cheese & crackers and keep on playing. If I need to take a whizz, I just grab my trusty piss bottle and fill 'er up (with my back to the audience of course).
Members Gruven Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 Never leave the stage during a set. Get used to it. Yeah, it sucks. Try to eat a couple of hours before you start the gig and only drink as much as you need to stay hydrated. I tend to drink too much water sometimes (I sing a lot) and have to suffer, holding a piss, quite frequently.
Members bassplayer7770 Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 In cover bands, you get breaks... Otherwise, just use common sense.
Members Rowka Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 This is where a wireless comes in real handy.
Members Melville Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 I don't know how it works for everyone else, but whenever I'm on stage playing generally food and having to take a leak or the last things on my mind.
Members nofret Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 How long are your sets? It's rare to go longer than two hours without a break and most club sets are an hour or less. If you have to eat on the gig, order on break and tell them you want it in an hour. Works for me.
Members Long Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 If its an "emergency" I'm sure you and the band can come up with some way of covering for you for a few minutes . . . otherwise yeah, eat beforehand and don't drink too much before and during the set.
Members DerekDRP Posted October 11, 2005 Author Members Posted October 11, 2005 Cool. I know you guy's can drink on stage at least right? Becuase in the movie the blue's brother's *Bob's country bunker they had beer on the amp's and on other things.
Members nofret Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 Sometimes drinking is a requirement - it depends on your drummer's time.

Ever had a nice, sticky mixed drink fall all over your gear? Ugh...
Members JacieFB Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 Just do shots. Besides, with all that coke in your system, you really shouldn't have to eat. Seriously, though...I cut a set short one time because my blood sugar got low. Guitarist was pissed at me till he found out what was wrong. Man that sucked.
