Members wilki29` Posted October 13, 2005 Members Posted October 13, 2005 I have a fender 2001 p bass. Was just wondering if anyone knew if these were well made basses and if its worth putting new electronics/tuners in it or just getting a american p bass. Thanks
Members illidian Posted October 13, 2005 Members Posted October 13, 2005 Only you can tell us if it's a good one. To find out, play it acoustically. How well does the body resonate, and how good is that sound? If both these factors are good, then it's a good one. Just yesterday I played three MIM's and a couple Squiers that resonated all equally well - all decently, not a "great" MIM but definately solid ones.

Members Thumper Posted October 13, 2005 Members Posted October 13, 2005 +1 for illidian's comments. If it resonates well unplugged, it's worth buying and upgrading. Otherwise, consider picking up a used MIA P-bass. In any event, get a P-bass. You really, really should have one.
Members zachoff Posted October 13, 2005 Members Posted October 13, 2005 If I had a MIM Fender P bass made in 2001 it would most likely sound different than your 2001 MIM Fender P bass... The important thing is what you think of it. If you don't like how it plays, look for one that you like more. If you don't like how it sounds, look for ones that sound better. Fender is pretty much impossible to guage at this point from bass to bass that going out and playing them is really the only way you're going to know.
Members wilki29` Posted October 13, 2005 Author Members Posted October 13, 2005 well whats the deal with those highway 1 precision basses? How do they compare to the american and mexican versions?
