Members tallgoat
I'm a five-string player. Don't care to go back to four-strings, but I want the P-bass sound of that split pickup at THAT position on the strings. It's just the unmistakable P-bass sound. Problem is, you can hardly find any five strings that have that special "extended" P-bass pickup. The only one I am familiar with is the Schecter Robert DeLeo model, which is no longer made. Any other recommendations?
Members sunburstbasser
Ummm...Sadowsky? You might be able to route out a 5-string J for a Bartolini or similar 5-string P bass pickup, but I'm not sure thats the right position.

Members speddling
Chris Benavente makes a killer P bass in 5 & 6 strings... My 5 has J pickups... but he's made the with split P (or pair of split P). My 6 has a soapbar but I could have done a split. I know somebody who is looking to have a 9 string version made too www.benaventeguitars.com

Members P.Bagley
G&L L-5000 Love the bass, but the pickup is a little overwound and wolley sounding. - Paul
Members beam
Bartolini makes P-bass structure pickups in a soapbar shape for 4, 5 and 6 string basses Same dimensions as the EMG soapbars, pretty common slot size. You can swap these into a bunch of different 5-string basses.

Supposedly, it gives you some more low mids, but I'm not convinced. I've the 4-string version in my bass, and it compares with a traditional Precision pickup very very well.
