Stock Rickenbacker strings

I have been GASing for another Ric lately. I bought a new one back in about 1980 (and then sold it like a dumbass) and I seem to recall that the stock strings it came with were flats. Still that way? Flats on a Ric doesn't make a lot of sense to me.:confused:

Yeah, I know about that guy. He was the bass player for Wings wasn't he?? ;) But it seems the Ric tone that everyone is after is the Chris Squire roundwound tone.:confused:

did you buy it new back then? if not someone may have changed them. 4001`s didnt have strong necks or good truss rods as craig already stated.

 

new rics come with rounds and they are nice and crisp

 

i got my ric brand new in 2001. i havent changed the strings and it still sounds as good as it did 4 years ago
