kerosene,

god luck with the new venture.

i'm in the middle of the same thing, trying out for a new band wednesday after leaving the band of the last year and a half.

i would give up if i didn't love to play out so much.

sometimes i can't believe some of the music i'm willing to play to gig (Kelly Clarkson, Bon Jovi), but that is where its at.

hang in there. i know it's sad.

I've been bandless for a few months now. I've jammed with a few bands and just wasn't feeling it so I may ty to get my own band together who knows. It's been nice not dealing with all the {censored} that comes along with being in a band these past few months, but I do miss playing. Lucky for us we're bass players so we can be more choosey about what band we go with. Bands seem to always be searching for us:thu:

I am in the same exact situation and I too have been thrilled not having to deal with band {censored} during my "time off". I'm looking to get into a new band once winter starts setting in, but this time I don't want to be the one doing all the f'n booking, advertising, website, etc. I just wanna walk on stage, plug in, grab a beer and play. :thu:

Yeah, when I was with the band I was asked by three other bands if I was able to play with them too. With my family and work and the church band it was impossible. But im excited to move on. Hopefully land in a cool band. The one thing I want to find is a place where its a democracy creatively and not a dictatorship. I like to work together and not to be told exactly every note to play. Its probably rare to find. My last band was very open creatively so I know its possible.

hey Detox, luckily there is a pretty good music scene here in Detroit area. Im in the Port Huron area about an hour north. The band is in Rochester Hills that Im looking into. Its a bit of a drive but if the band is cool then its worth it to me. Good luck finding something!

Thanks for the positive words.

The three piece jazz group I play with only plays out every couple months. My problem is my work schedule of all afternoons and now I don't even know what hours I'll be working next year. It could be back to all three shifts on a rotating schedule. A grind and very tiring.. I'm still gonna play somewhere and I'm always looking to form a new group.

On to the next I say.

By "your" I meant the band as a whole, so sorry if it seemed accusatory. Definitely on to the next. :)

Nah its cool. Its just a bummer cause I was the one trying to always keep people motivated. Trying to get everyone to practice. We had great songs. A pretty cool sound. I wanted to make sure it kept going but it didnt. So...well...

Our songs wont be on the web much longer so if anyones interested in checkin' out a song, listen to "Face to a Name".
