Members State 6000
I think Judy Garland or someone originally sang this song, but the version that appears on Harry Connick Jr.'s "25" album (shuddup) has an amazing upright line. In fact, most of the song is just upright and vocals. It has a bit of everything: catchy intro line, cool walking jazz lines with crazy fills, a couple of solos, and a bit of an 'ol West feel to boot! The song has been my white whale since I started learning upright bass 10 years ago, and I'm only just now working it out (on fretless first) with the "Amazing Slow Downer" program. Although I think it's going to be a while before I can nail it on the upright. Check it out if you can. That Ben Wolfe guy is a great bassist.
