Members Emprov
Never been much of a weightlifter but I'm thinking that it's time to take in some upperbody workouts. I run 4-5 days/wk and mountain bike 2-3, all lower body stuff and I'm looking to tone (not get big) my upper body. I'm planning on lifting twice a week for about an hour or so each time. Any good total upper body workout that'll fit the bill?. Any ideas?
Members syciprider
Hello there fellow hammerhead. I use light weights for my arms (curls and flys) and chest (I never exceed my body weight on the bench) and lots of push ups, curl ups and pull ups. Keep the rubber side down. Members Fran da Man
Heres some advice...use machines; if you still want to be agile on bass. Freeweights will strenghten x times your hands along with other parts, i don't think you want that do you? Machines are recommended for musicians. http://www.musicianshealth.com/default.htm

Can't do pushups, they bulk up my traps and delts and I can't fit into any of my shirts. I was a pretty intense competitive swimmer when I was younger and I guess my shoulders shrank back to normal size. Don't hate me but I'm actually thinking about switching to road biking. *ducks*
Members takeout
Free weights. Low reps, lots of sets. Strength without bulk.

Not trading, just switching focus for a bit, trading the cool mud garb for the Spandex clown suit.

Members ianick
I am going to buy a road bike too. I still love mountain biking, but I think I'm going to start riding the 15+ miles to work everday and it would be MUCH easier on a road bike. Plus I'm going to ride Ragbrai for the first time this year. Road bikes are tons of fun, have fun picking one out.
