Members catphish Posted October 22, 2005 Members Posted October 22, 2005 Im the unofficial marketing deptm of my band and I just finished our latest gig poster. I'm pretty happy with it so I thought I'd share it. PLease don't report me to Fox.
Members bholder Posted October 22, 2005 Members Posted October 22, 2005 Be glad if you don't get sued for copyright infringement. Other than that, yeah, it's pretty damn cool!
Members Detox Posted October 22, 2005 Members Posted October 22, 2005 I was thinking the same thing. Potential copyright issue.
Members jeffery.addison Posted October 22, 2005 Members Posted October 22, 2005 It seems that cartoon is popping up everywhere... I don't know how much sleep I would lose about FOX coming after you...if I had a dollar for every band t-shirt I have seen lately with "GET-R-DUN" on it, minus the c with the circle around it, I would be driving to work in a porshe.

However it's never going to happen, so it's not something that I even consider. We only used it because of the name of the bar is "Griffin's", the name of the family in the show.
Members SA Rios Posted October 22, 2005 Members Posted October 22, 2005 That stage is tiny, you been there before? played there last month. Its cool though, the place fills up pretty easily. Good luck, I'll see if I can stop by; might have a show that night too.

It's not big, but we always have a great crowd. Come on out if you can. We might be doing the New Years Eve show there this year.
Members anothertxn Posted October 22, 2005 Members Posted October 22, 2005 Well, it kinda makes me think of a gay bar, but otherwise it's quite excellent.

Members SB Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 I find this poster shallow and pedantic.

Members catphish Posted October 23, 2005 Author Members Posted October 23, 2005 This was the other possibility....
Members SB Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Very funny. I happen to like both posters quite a lot, hope you realise I was paraphrasing a recent Family Guy quote in my original post
Members Thunderbroom Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 How do you get those images in a format that allows you to print them 11" x 17"? I'm working on our next gig poster and want something more creative...like you're doing...but have no idea how to create stuff like that. Are there some tricks/tips you can share?
Members catphish Posted October 23, 2005 Author Members Posted October 23, 2005 Originally posted by SB Very funny. I happen to like both posters quite a lot, hope you realise I was paraphrasing a recent Family Guy quote in my original post Nope. i sure didn't. *opens mouth, inserts foot*
Members catphish Posted October 23, 2005 Author Members Posted October 23, 2005 Originally posted by Thunderbroom How do you get those images in a format that allows you to print them 11" x 17"? Just using photoshop. Set the canvas size to 10.9 by 16.6 (roughly). Is that what you're asking?

Is that what you're asking? No...I mean the Family Guy images for instance. Do you have those images as a huge file (jpg/bmp/???) that will print cleanly on your posters.
Members Gruven Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 Originally posted by catphish This was the other possibility.... What's so original about stealing 'The Family Guy' images for your poster? The fellow who designed the poster that you're bashing obviously knows something about graphic design that you don't.

I trace it, scan it, and digitially clean it up. As for sizing it, I again use photoshop to size the image.

It's highly probable that the person who did SB's poster knows far more than I about graphic design and a great many other things. In case you missed it (read the thread) , I mistook a comment from SB to be a rip on our silly poster and at the time (drunk and generally P.O.'d at someone not at all involved) made a mean comment. Mea Culpa.

Mea Culpa. My humblest apology. I, in fact, did not read the entire thread.
