Members burdizzos Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Kick ass, they've always struck me as a cool group.
Members rikshaw Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 very cool! i hope that they aren't dicks
Members Cortfan Posted October 23, 2005 Author Members Posted October 23, 2005 Me too. Keep in mind, we're just a rinky dink bar cover band, and these guys are a major act. I'll have on a disguise anyway, if we suck too bad.
Members Newget Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 That's good news, it should be great exposure. Unfortunately Col. Soul {censored}ing sux.
Members bruto Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 Wow, that's fantastic. What's the name of your band?
Members ToeJamFootball Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 awesome, good score!! ToeJam
Members timmerz Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 Yup!You guys did super getting that one! Pick the songs you're going to do with care.... Make sure you are well-rehearsed, don't drink too much. It could be a really important gig for your band, if the right people are there, and they just may be. Having said all that negative {censored}, make sure you have a great time opening and closing for a big-name act!
Members Apendecto Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 How much does a gig like this pay (opening and closing a band that I haven't heard much from in the last few years, although they were pretty rocking back in the day)? Yo.
Members bassplayer7770 Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 Awesome! I dig Collective Soul, although "Dosage" was the last of their CDs I bought...
Members lug Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 Cool, We covered sevral of their songs. Read their history if you get a chance. Makes you dislike record companies even more.
Members pbass_groovin Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 Thats friggin awesome! Does Will still play that 5 string Cort Curbow?
Members Gruven Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 Through the 90's I was fortunate enough to open for several major label acts. Most of the musicians that I got to meet were really great people. Be well rehearsed and try to stay relaxed. Don't let the fact that they had a record deal intimidate you. Be yourself and you'll be fine. Break a leg!

Members tenyearsgone Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 Awesome!Wow, that's a big gig you guys have, 5 hours! How many songs do you have in your setlist?
Members Thunderbroom Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 This is really cool news! I think it be a blast to share the stage with Collective Soul.
Members Cortfan Posted October 24, 2005 Author Members Posted October 24, 2005 Our band name is "The 735 Band". Kind of a dumb name, but the band studio is called The 735 Studio, so we were stuck with The 735 Band. www.735band.com www.studio735.com I'm not sure how much it pays, but I would have done it for free, because I really like to hear Collective Soul up close and personal. We had a big party gig last Friday night. About 20 Hooter's girls (our drummer and his wife/ female vox daughter works at a local Hooter's. I'm sitting here listening to the radio ads for our gig.

I saw CS a few months back and Will was playing a 5 string Jazz bass. I've seen him switch between the Curbow and a Jazz before so I don't know if he's moved away from the Curbow or just decided to play the Jazz all night.
