Members iplayloudly Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 so far, I love it. In my opinion, its up to par with the american jazz basses
Members Retrovertigo Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Those are solid basses. Many (myself included) find the MIJ Fenders to be as good if not better than the MIA's. Did you replace the pickguard on that, or did it come like that? Not that it matters. Good score.
Members bassguy Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 i like the black on black ones...also the black on black tort (or is it black pearl?) one someone on here has...it looks sexy as hell
Members beam Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Time and time again I've been convinced that those are the best bang-for-your-buck Fender basses under $1000.
Members james on bass Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 It's not a real Geddy Lee bass.

Members sunburstbasser Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Geddy's basses consist of the actual '76 or whatever that the Geddy bass is based on, and then the rest are Fender Custom Shop instruments based on his old standard. I don't think he actually uses the Geddy Lee bass. The black w/white PG is the original, the black w/black is in Drop D for "Driven" and the like, and the FMT is down one half step for some of those older screamers like 2112.
Members bassguy Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 mmm driven...and mmm 2112.....

Members phildogger Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Also, I would ask everyone here to accept my apoligies for my assinine behavior recently, especially anyone I may have offended. Sometimes, my foot finds its way into my mouth
Members mike fitzwell Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Welcome to the Geddy Lee Jazz Owner's club! Congrats on your new bass! Here's mine:

On Rush in Rio, its hard to tell and I only noticed the FMT when I saw them last summer. I think he has 4 Fender Custom Shop models. Phildogger-I hope you never post here again! I've never been so offended! Actually I didn't even notice you said anything. I mean, 63 posts? It happens! Wait till you have 200 posts in a row that are pretty nasty, then you've got problems!

Why that's ridiculous, who ever would say that? *sweeps the link in his sig under the carpet* Honestly though, especially during the 80s, the MIA stuff was well below Fender Japan in most respects...MIJ stuff is at least as good and half as much...

Members pbass_groovin Posted October 24, 2005 Members Posted October 24, 2005 One day I'll be as cool as you guys. I was in Guitar Center yesterday and I looked up and there was a Geddy hanging there just waiting for a home. Next thing I know there's the manager placing a bucket underneath me....they had a leak in their ceiling...or maybe that was to collect my drool.
