Exactly. I didn't really read the original post but here are some more obscure bands:

Koenjihyakkei

Zeni Geva

Yona-kit

You Fantastic!

Big'N

These are just bands I like that happen to be pretty obscure, I'm not trying to win a medal here. :freak:

No, I haven't heard any songs by the bands you mentioned, save Great Society. I'd like to, but I just don't have any luck locating obscure recordings. Shoot, I'm still trying to get my hands a few Spotnicks (not "Sputniks") recordings.

Nuclear Rabbit

Dead Milkmen

Mr. Bungle

Zappa

Ned's Atomic Dustbin

Fishbone

That's all I can think of right now. Zappa and Bungle are fairly well-known, but they're still very obscure. Ned's Atomic Dustbin is a German (?) band with two bass players that do all sorts of weird {censored}. Fishbone is obscure in that they do so much different stuff (metal, ska, punk, jazz, reggae, funk)...sometimes in one song!

Anyone else know Thunderclap Newman?

Sure. I even have a (pretty cheezy) vid of them.

Really? Odd, since they existed long before videos...

It was from some TV show they were on, from the looks of it.

I'v heard of the 13th floor elevators. A guitar player I used to jam with was into this really weird music and he introduced me to them. Wasn't that the band where the singer, I believe, had electro shock therepy and it really really messed him up. I think they only had one album and they had an electric jug as an instrument

A few more obscure ones that I like are

suplecs- kind of sabbath like

Five horse Johnson- Bluesy rock

60 watt shaman- pretty rocking group, I'm not sure if they are still around

Choking victim- anarchist punk, only had one album which was recorded in one day. The band members are part of another band called Left over crack, which is almost the same as Choking Victim

Haven't heard of most of the bands listed.

My own likes:

Vito Cole-Acoustic Rock, and the man who inspired me to play

The Fashion Coasters-Hard rock, now defunct. I've never heard anything like it since.

Jalan Crossland-Folk guitar and singing, lots of talent!

Norman Liotta-Folky, but more experimental than Jalan.

Blinddog Smokin'-Texas Blues, plus funk and hip-hop influences

Down To The Bone-Acid Jazz, like Jamiroquai without vocals.

!Tang-A more aggressive Tower of Power with hip-hop and Latin influences.

Clatter-What a 2-piece band should sound like! Not exactly obscure here, though.
