Members 82Daion
I think he's talking in terms of the '51-style straight-across single coil.

After many hours over many months of reading about different pickups, wires, types of magnets(Alnico II, V, Ceramic), pickup configurations, and sound samples... I can tell you truthfully...not to waste your time
Members illidian
I've heard a local guy play one three times. Sounds aggressive. It's more like a Stingray than a P, I think.

Members takeout
WARNING: I've seen two '51 Reissues where the pickup fell apart due to the fact that the bobbin is exposed. If you have a playing style that is at all aggressive, take note.

I had an idea for a project bass using that as the bass. Get a reverse wound version of the same pickup and add it near the bridge. So it has the same layout as a Jazz Bass, but it would be two single coil Precision pups
