Members Thunderbroom
Long, long story but our (YFC) sound guy has quit the band. We received notice at 3:45am this morning. We have a gig on Saturday night with another (my) band. We had been counting on our soundguy and his system. We are trying to piece together a system, but I was wondering if any of you knew someone with decent gear that would work free/cheap on short notice. Members catphish
Hey bud, I replied to the PM. Big question. Are you looking for a guy to bring his own gear, or just run yours? Obvious follow up quesiton being, What exactly do you have?

Each of us does own stuff but none of it has been used with the band. I'm thinking about just buying a new mixer this week. We each own tiny little mixers but nothing adequate for the band. Members catphish
well then that makes it easier for me to respond. No, I don't know anyone who would do it. all the guys/companies I know, to bring their own system and run it all night, charge at least $250, and ussually more, especially if it's outside the city. I'd say start by taking inventory of what you have and see if you can piece together a system. If two of you have powered mixers then it's a good start, you just need monitor and main speakers and someone to set it up. It's not ideal, but it would work. Alternately, find a second band to play with you and use their system.

We have a second band...and I'm in it. The PA this band is short about 8 inputs to handle my country band. I'm looking at this though:

I nabbed a nice used Mackie mixer (16 CH) for $300 off Ebay. Might look into that too. The real challenge will be learning how to use it all in a short amount of time. Running live sound is just as much of an art form as playing an intrument, IMHO.
Members Thunderbroom
Update: We think we have enough odds and ends to pull this off (though I may order this mixer anyway). We have a guy to run sound. He's a professional piano player in Nashville (for you folks that saw us play in Aurora a few weeks ago, he's the guy that we had sing a song with us) and runs sound also. As a favor to our singer, he's coming up from Nashville to run the show.

Members leepmeister
Buy a bunch of PA gear you want to try out at GC and then return it the next day. If you were in/around Tulsa, I'd do it for ya Sorry
