Members DanTolen
Say if you had a 100 watt combo with a cheap 100 watt rms stock speaker. If you bought a better sounding, new speaker that could handle 150 - 200 watts rms would you be able to pump more low frequency and volume out of your amp? Members tylytle
I doubt you will get what you are looking for. You may see a little difference. Mostly see the difference in speaker voicing. Different speakers have different sounds. Anyway this is what I have noticed. Now if the speaker is bad, You will see a big difference. Members bassplayinguy
I swapped the {censored}ty thin paper speaker in my Yorkville combo out with an Eminence Delta 12LF that I had laying around and it was much nicer. thicker lows, and nicer highs. Its probably not the right size box for the speaker but the amp doent get gigged and sits next to my desk so i just use it to jam on when my rig isnt at my house
Members DanTolen
I'll show you guys what I'm thinking about doing here: I have a Fender Rumble 100 combo ( http://www.fender.com/products/sear...rtno=2315600010 ) And thinking about putting any new speaker in it, if it improves it. Members DanTolen
I just took out the speaker, and did some investigation. 4 ohms. I bet I could just take the "amp" part out of the combo then make a rack or box for it. Do you guys think I could gain some volume by converting it to a head and hooking it up to a nice 2 10 cab? Members burdizzos
Replacing the stock speaker is often a good way to improve the sound of a combo.
Members Apendecto
I would say it would be a better investment to put your money toward a better amp/cab. Yo.
