Members bbl
Anyone ever consider dropping a different bridge pickup in your SB-2? I've read about low output from the bridge pickup (vs. the neck pu) and each pickup has a seperate volume control. Sounds like it might be a nice mod. Members Ted Striker
No way. I dont think the intention of the bridge pickup was to be played alone. This was a P-bass with a different type of "tone control." Instead of tone knob, they added a pickup to the circuit and tone is altered by that. The bass is perfect the way it is. Plus, have fun trying to find a replacement for it.

Members Ender_rpm
I've considered mods, but everytime I start planning, I play out and realize its about the perfect live bass. You can control just about everything with finger inflection and picking hand position. I really only use the bridge PU for slappy stuff, but it does do a nice job scooping mids and boosting highs to cut through a mix. I used to have an L-2500, a MM Sterling, and a MIM Active Jazz, and the SB-2 can cover almost all the basses those I relied on those instruments for. About the only thing I want to do now is a D-Tuner and MAYBE a tone control, but hey, thats what treble controls on amps are for:)

I've never thought of a P/J that way.

Well, a SB-2 is like a p-bass on steroids whereas a L-2000 is versatile monster-bass. I own a L-2000 and its my main axe for over a year now and I can tell you that about all sounds in this bass are very musical and usable... from sweet to extremely aggressive. It's all in there.
