Members Billy-B
Why is it that most often the bass player (or sometimes the drummer) runs the band? Why can't the goofy singers or guitar players pull their weight? Anyone besides me tired of always getting the gigs, making the set list, getting the gear to the gigs (with the help of the drummer, of course), making sure everyone else shows up, hoping the guitarist can manage to get his own gear to the show ('cause lord knows he won't help loading/unloading the bands gear), and hoping the singer might show? Why is that? Why are we, the bassmen, always the most responsible band members? Or is it just me? Billy-B
Members 82Daion
Watch this drop off the board like it's got the Titanic attached. I think that the guitarist-run band is a utopian vision.
Members Adrenochrome
I think you're correct. The bass player temperament seems to suit being organised, thoughtful and forward-planning. I haven't been in a band yet when this wasn't the case.

Members SA Rios
In our band the guitarist does everything. But, as the only one in the band with sound/recording knowlege, I'm always the one setting up the PA, recording gear, etc.
Members MrJoshua
I've been in a guitarist-run band before. It was a three-piece, and it was pretty much the singer/guitarist's show. The drummer and I knew that and were cool with it, as he was an awesome guy and an amazing musician. We just showed up and played.
Members zenfascist
Isn't it funny how that works? It's because bass players are just smarter, that's why! It's genetically proven that people who play bass are cooler, smarter, better looking and better musicians, period!

That was the most fun I've ever had playing. Not having any responsibility was wonderful. Billy-B
Members Crescent Seven
Singers don't run the band until they have a camera pointed at them and they're being asked questions. Then it's "their" band. C7

Members Gruven
I just joined a band where the drummer and guitarist run it. All they want to play now is wanker 80's hairband crap. The last five songs they gave me to learn: Girls, Girls, Girls - Motley Crue Looks that Kill - Motley Crue Alone Again - Dokken Rock of Ages - Def Leppard We All Die Young - Steel Dragon (from the movie 'Rock Star') There is soon to be an opening for a bass player in the band if it keeps going this way. WTF?!!

Members james on bass
My main band I joined, not formed. The guitarist does everything! The singer and drummer just show up, sometimes not even on time. My second band which I formed, all 4 of us, but mostly the drummer, do all of the leg-work. Members Benjamin
My current main band is driven by the singer/guitarist and myself mostly. Our drummer is motivated, and has appropriate transport for the band. When it comes to music, it is driven by the singer and I, however when the music needs to go elsewhere and push some boundaries, it seems that I drive that to a point. And, as 82D has so forecast, the bow has dipped under the cresting wash of the wind driven waves, the stern has risen, almost imperceptibly at first, but then the deck chairs start sliding towards the prow... The manly men, the bassissts and (some of the) drummers, are sipping a last drink before taking that icy plunge to oblivion, whilst the guitarists and singers are dressing themselves as women to try and hide in the life boats. They, of course, are more important than the common rhythm riff-raff, and must live on to play another day... Is there no hope of righting the once mighty Titanic?? Members JacieFB
I'm a singer/bassist/songwriter. I found a drummer that actually has his {censored} together. I think I'm migrating towards the bassist/drunk paradigm.
