Members HORSE
so I'm probably going to get approved for a student loan for university again this year. First year that meant an Eden rig (which I sold and replaced with a yorky combo). 2nd year I bought a car. So i'm thinking for this year: kind of makes you believe in a higher power, doesn't it? Members Retrovertigo
just out of curiosity (i've not applied for a S.L. yet). do you have to give them a reason you need the money? The reason I ask is because when I start the music program at CMU, I wouldn't mind getting a new(better) string bass. I wonder if that would fly with them? I wonder if that would fly with them? i'm not sure how it works for you, but here in Ontario, I just apply for the loan. I put information about my finances, income, expenses etc. but I don't have to say anything about my intended use of the money. Once I'm approved, I can choose to have that money applied toward my tuition, or have it deposited in my account. They assume you'll need money for living expenses too. You probably wouldn't need to say anything about planning on getting a better bass.
Members Crescent Seven
I wish I could have gotten student loans that would cover the cost of school, much less a bass. You'd better count your stars or something, lots of people would kill to have that money to go to school with...C7
Members HORSE
i'm totally counting my chickens here though. my loan isn't approved yet, and I always make sure I've covered school fees before I spend any extra money.I worked my ass off this summer doing manual labour for tuition fees, and I've been counting pennies since I started school this fall. I figure if I get approved for the loan, and it works with my finances, I can treat myself to a new bass as a reward. oh, and its a Metro, so its not quite as pricey as the NYC Sadowskys. Members sunburstbasser
I've got my tuition paid for, so loans go almost entirely to, well, nothing yet. I've got some stuff to sell, two amps. One is guaranteed, the other a maybe. I'll get an SX fretless J with the proceeds from one or both. I've got basses to sell too but no one bites on those! Members sunburstbasser
I thought I had one sold, but the guy isn't coming through. One of my Cort's (not the same as the one Derek loves). Had a bite on my Ashdown cab too but no dice. He got a BEHRINGER instead!

I was just looking at that bass last night. Dead sexy! I couldn't justify paying that much for a (essentially)Jazz bass tho...especially if I was going to school. I'm looking at the Valenti's tho.
