I'd check it out if we had one near me.

Speaking of L&M.... I went there (Calgary location) about 9 years ago with a wad of cash in my pocket and my 1 year old neice in tow to buy a new acoustic. I was there for well over an hour and not once did anyone say hi, ask to help etc... I left and went to whatever that shop is (16th near Shaganappi?) and bought my Takamine.

I never went back to L&M. A little bit of courtesy and they would have had my business that morning.

I at least want someone to acknowledge my presense, then they can {censored} off. I had cash in hand, ready to buy something, but had a few questions. Couldn't find anyone to answer them that wasn't extremely busy chatting with a friend, so I left.

The other shop I went to, I was greeted, told the guy what I was after and did they have any examples etc... He brought to the acoustic room with a few different guitars, explained them to me, then let me play until I started hanging the guitars back up.

That is much better service IMO.

I had the opposite experience at L&M in Calgary a few years ago. A bunch of guys kept asking if I needed a hand....about 8 times. It was really annoying....friendly but annoying.

You definitely have to find a shop that suits you. Here in Saskatoon I think the guys at Mother's are great. :thu:

I don't have any of the aformentioned problems in the Calgary location....never have...

I'm also lucky...I've got a really good friend who works there..as well as his dad...The salespeople all know me pretty well by now, too. :)

But yeah. I wish i had more money. I could go for a drum kit these days REALLY badly.....

L&M Vancouver has the best bass selection in the city, and it's run by a great guy. ( the bass center)

He brought in a Yamaha TRB for me to try, in lefty. No other shop does that.

That being said, most of my gear is from there. And everything is is used.
