Members Billy-B
Hard felt. Nice and thick, sounds good, but doesn't last all that long. Anyone else use these? Billy-B

Members pbass_groovin
I don't use a pick but I have a couple of those Dunlop purple thick ones. I think their like 1.0 or more. I've tried playing with a pick on several occasions and got so frustrated that I end up throwing them across the room. There's probably several behind my sofa. My cats play with them more than I do now.

Members Apendecto
I use a piece of old Zildjian cymbol that I shaped into a pick. Heavy as hell. Or 1 mm to 1.1 mm plastic. Yo.

Members 72Rick
I 79', when I started playing Bass, I used Gibson Black hard picks, any Tortoise Shell type including wrap-around Thumb Picks because they always flew out of my fingers right at the wrong time(really imbarrassingand pissed me off). Then I met a new Bass Player who played with a pick and his fingers depending on the tune. The pick he used was a "Dunlop 60mm Nylon". I tried it out and have never bothered with any other pick since. They are Lighter, so not for everyone. What I really love about them is they allow me more dextarity than I get with stiffer picks and as I play them they warm up and adhire to my fingers better than stiffer picks do. They also don't wear out very fast either. I baught a half gross of them in 84' and still have a boat load of them in that little bag.

Members tylytle
I wish I could use a pick. I can't seem to get the speed i want. Use two or three of my fingers. Any ideas on how I can get a pick to work for me? Ty

If you are happy with your sound and speed, I'd continue to play the way you are now. Billy-B

Members Slats
Thanks for the input everybody! Sometimes I use a pick for a certain sound...like when I hit the strings hard and palm it. I'm looking for a a way to get the speed out of a pick for playing the sixteenth notes in the Beatles song 'Something' , but without the plastic on the string pick sound. I think I'll try a felt pick that some have mentioned.
