Members bassplayinguy
theres two of them down the road from me, acutally come to think of it... pretty much all the county gas stations are full serve, then all the ones closer to windsor and newer stations are all self serve. Members bassman1956
Around here locally, I don't think there are any left. Most do have signs up that if you're handicapped, they'll come and do it for you at no charge. During certain hours, if you can get them away from the register. It amazed me when I went to Oregon a few years ago, and jumped out to fill up, and the attendant wouldn't let me. "It's illegal here." Wow! Between here and Pennsylvania, I think it's hit or miss to find a full-serve. And along the main roads, mostly miss. Out here it's very common to see 4 or 6 islands with 2 or 3 pumps each, and cars waiting to get through the line. They'd need an attendant for each island. I think full serve is a luxury we just don't have room for. Still miss it, though.
Members gspointer
I haven't seen one in a long time. A little off topic, but, last year I filled up, was done and a car full of girls pulled up at the other side of the island, the girl must have never fueled her car before, after instructions from the clerk via PA, she thinks she has it figured out, well, you know how theres a delay between when the pump clicks on and the gas comes out? She didn't, she pulled the nozzle out of her tank about the same time the gas started coming out, I figured out in about 2 seconds that it was hopeless, she is literally standing there spraying gas around, so I walked around the island and stopped the mess. I paid and pushed my car away from the puddle of gas.

It soudns stupid but I guess if you've never ever had to do it, you'd never really learn. Who pays attention when other people do it? Jersey boy here.... self serve is forbidden! I took my girl to KY for 4 months in the mid 90s and she was stumped too, She'd make me fill the car before she'd drive it anywhere without me dead of winter, driving rain, etc etc etc. I dig just cracking the window and saying "Fill it with regular" and sitting in peace inthe car till I can pay and drive away

I don't have to shut my car off or walk all the way into the store and stand in line to pay, etc etc...

Here's how it works around here.I walk out of my car, slip the credit card into the machine, type in my code, fill the tank and get away.
Members Banta
They're becoming a thing of the past in the US. People are more concerned about gas prices, and the ease & convenience of self-serve now makes full service unnecessary.

Members Cortfan
I used to own a full service Union 76 Station from 1973 to 1980. We would fill it up, check oil, water, battery water, tire pressure, clean your windshield, check brake fluid and AT fluid if you wanted, and got $.66 for Super Unleaded. Haven't seen any full service stations in the Memphis area for the last 10 years, or so.

Kinda helps put the whole $9bil Exxon quarterly profits in line, don't it! That is just... wow... I can't even understand how they could do that?? Who would pay an extra 50 cents!?! If you filled your 20 gallon tank (or however much tanks gold in gallons in that crazy imperial world), that's like an extra 10 dollars
Members Zamfir
What is the logic for Jersey to force full serve on customers? I can't see how it would be that much safer, but I hope to be enlightened.'Sides, I like to get out and stretch my legs after a long ride. Y'know, get the cramps out of yer ass.
