Members beam
Anyone have any experience with either of these?I like flats, and I like rounds, though the Half-rounds I've tried, I didn't like much at all. I'm not at all into any sort of clanky brightness, though I want to try something with a little more bite than my current flats. These seem to be another way to go.. Cheap enough, $17. Power FlatSemi-Flat pure nickel wound long scale. Flatter than half flat, but not quite as flat as a pure flatwound. Smooth to the touch, but still good intonation. Great for use with fretless basses. SilencerAs in the Silencer Acoustic String, this new Silencer breaks the barriers of electric bass string technology. The process of Inverse String Winding compresses the outermost part of the cover wrap leaving the internal structure of the string intact. Exclusive to S.I.T., this design produces a silky feel which is easier on your fingers and frets, but explodes with a round wound sound!
Members bassment zombie
I've read things about them, but have no personal experience with them. Would love to hear some, though... I love flats in general, as well, but haven't tried any of the half-rounds. How would you describe 'em? (tonally, response, feel, etc.)

(tonally, response, feel, etc.) I edited the initial thread a bit The half-rounds I tried were the D'Addarios. They sounded good, but they felt "Sticky" to me. There wasn't any residue or anything like that, they just grab at your fingers. I sold them to bassman1956, and he likes them a lot on one of his basses, PM him for some more details Why do I think I'm just gonna order both of these and add some more to the clip archive
Members speddling
page of sound files where is says "Pressure Wound" is the Silencers and "Flat" is the powerflats The Powerflats are tighter, darker and thumpier than the D'Addario HalfRounds. About halfway from a Labella Deep Talkin Flat and the Half Rounds... really nice sounding string. Not nearly as grabby, but similar (both are nickel groundwounds). The Silencers are basically warmer "pre broken in" nickel rounds. I wouldn't consider them remotely close to a flat at all. here is my fretless 6 with powerflats and my fretless 6 with D'Addario Half Rounds and for reference... a snippit with the current SIT Rock Bright Steels

I think I just found my $35 purchase for today(one set of each) The tone on your fretless 6...just, wow.
Members no-logic
I use SIT's exclusively. I tried the Silencers but didn't care for the feel. Oddly enough they seem sticky and harder to move around on than the rounds. I also tried the flats and determined that I don't care for the lack of punch and volume output of flats.
