i was thinking about getting a 18inch cabnet, is that a good idea and will it run at 4 ohms or 8 ohms ?

I think that an 18 would be a bad idea.

It won't exactly compliment your rig. I'd recommend a 15 first, Depends on your budget and things like that, but since your in Australia, your options are limited...

A new getar player would be a better option

One with a penis large enough to not need a 300 w marshall.

No one needs 300 w marshalls.

for a marshall 50 is plenty heaps.

So, in other words, he does have a small penis.

Harke cabinets are hard to get used to because you have to EQ them so differently to get a good sound. To me, they always sound more harsh than a cabinet with 'paper' coned speakers.

i'm trying to figure out what marshall is 300watts, the biggest marshall head i've seen was 150w and let me tell you, with the master volume set on TWO it was unbelievably loud.

are you talking about a 300 watt cab? or some solid state head maybe?

Typically, most folks here just think Hartkes don't offer much bang for the buck. You get a lot of features for what you pay, but not a cool kinda character to the sound...if ya know what I mean.

Makes me wonder what kind of people listen to your g**tar player's music if they get jealous simply because he was retarded enough to sink $$$ into more power than he'll ever need in his lifetime. It goes back to quality over quantity. For the same money he spent on that head, an 85W Mesa Nomad head and a hooker would have gotten him a lifetime investment and a lifelong memory.

Sounds like his money is better spent repairing the one he has. 60 watts is a good amount of power for guitar. I don't know what model Fender he has but some of them sound great.

Most guitarists that I've gigged with use 100 watt amps, and they have more than enough power +.

Marshall (Mode Four) - MF on the front should stand for MOTHER {censored}! Why in the world would you need something like that for guitar?!!

Stupidly loud geetar amps that sound great.

Fender Twin

Fender Deville

Fender Deluxe

Marshall JCM800

Mesa boogie anything

Suggest to your pee pee brained geetar player to get an all tube JCM 800 and see if he still thinks he needs 300 w

Dear oh, dear.

The problem most guitarists have is they can't turn down.

My mate had a Peavey 5150. Freakin awesome amp, but likst most amps of that size/wattage, they sound terrible at low volumes.

I'd recommend your guitarist at the very most a 2x12"
