Members zachoff Posted November 19, 2005 Members Posted November 19, 2005 Watching Minnesota v DU and it's amazing the difference between the college and NHL ice. Man, the goal is real close to the end boards in the NHL compared to college and the neutral zone is huge. I guess this means I've gotten used to the NHL ice. Good stuff. Avs won tonight too. Budaj is going to be starting by the end of this year. Aebischer just doesn't have it at this point for some reason.
Members MrJoshua Posted November 19, 2005 Members Posted November 19, 2005 I thought Aebi had been doing pretty good. I need to make it to some college games. UAH has a pretty decent team (my alma mater).
Members RyCLB Posted November 19, 2005 Members Posted November 19, 2005 Ya know, I'd love to get into the DU hockey games...however, being that I live right off DU's campus, all the morons going to the games take up all the freaking parking on my street. It's permit parking only too. I threw one hell of a {censored} fit when I got home from dinner last night only to find that I had to park 2 blocks down from my house. ...anywho, back on topic...you're right, they do have some major differences between college and pro hockey after all the NHL changes...
Members jazzbassist Posted November 19, 2005 Members Posted November 19, 2005 The goal of collegiate hockey has always been amateur development for international competition. The goal of professional hockey is to bring money in. Ever since they started letting the pros play in the olympics both college and junior hockey lost their biggest developmental goal. We still have World Juniors, but college from college the track to go is the pros. There is still a HUGE following for college hockey. I much prefer to go to a Hockey East, ECAC or WCHA game than a pro game any day. The atmosphere is better, the game is better and the players are playing for a different reason. Plus, you will never have a tournament like the Bean Pot in professional hockey.
Members chris dax Posted November 19, 2005 Members Posted November 19, 2005 In a game between teams that have combined to win the past four NCAA hockey titles, the Pioneers rallied from a two-goal deficit Friday night and tied the Minnesota Gophers 3-3 before the 24th consecutive sellout crowd at Magness Arena. sounds like a pretty exciting game....wish DU could have pulled it out.....
