It's still true that there's no free lunch, but these things work. I got a free ipod that way and it did cost me a bunch of time and persuasive emails to people, but I did get it. I also used a gmail account so no spam's been leaking through. If someone has the time, I'd say go for it (you might want to check that it's a reputable company. Some are, some aren't)
