Members Low Tone Posted November 19, 2005 Members Posted November 19, 2005 For those that don't know, this is the sync up between The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon CD. A few interesting observations.................. 1) This would be a lot more interesting while under the influence of some questionable substances. Now.... About the Wizard of Oz it's self. These are things I had never noticed about the movie before. Perhaps DSM creates a new level of enlightenment........ 2) All of the major characters in Oz were played by people from Dorothy's real life back in Kansas except for Glenda The Good Witch. Perhaps Glenda represents the mother Dorothy was lacking back home in Kansas? 3) Except for her brief appearence in the crystal ball, at no point do Auntie Em or Uncle Henry make an appearence in OZ. Every one else you see in the opening black and white scenes appear in OZ as some character. Could this be hidden resentment on Dorothy's part? Perhaps she feels that Em and Henry are holding her back from achieving her dreams? 4) When Dorothy starts down the Yellow Brick Road, it is entangled with a red brick road creating a spiral. If Dorothy had been colorblind and followed the wrong road, where would she have ended up? 5) I never realized before that the Scarecrow is packing a gun when they first head to the Witch's castle to get the broomstick. Anyway, just some interesting {censored} I never thought about before. Too caught up in the dialog.

If you start a CD of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon right after the 3rd Lion roar on Wizard of Oz, there are certain parts of the songs that sync up with happenings in the movie. It's kinda cool if you know what to look for. The CD plays through about 2 -1/2 times for the entire movie. If you want to do it the easy way, syncs like this are available for purchase and commonly called Dark Side of the Rainbow. eBay seller deadlyfoez sells a DVD with the sync already done. There are other sellers as well, but I'm really happy with this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6452958576&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Members Fran da Man Posted November 19, 2005 Members Posted November 19, 2005 The Wizard was also the traveling tonic dude, the gate keeper at the City, the cab driver and the Wizards guard. The lady on the bike was both the wicked witch of the east and west.

Members Fran da Man Posted November 19, 2005 Members Posted November 19, 2005 I read somewhere that in the scenes where the trees are throwing apples at them, you can see one of the guys inside" the tree.

Never heard that one before. I'll have to look for it next time. The suicidal Munchkin legend is false though. There is a crane flaping it's wing in the background and it looks like something swinging from the tree.

There was a whole dance number that was supposed to be in that scene, but it was deleted. In that, you could see someone operating a tree. Also, it was probably the best song in the movie IMHO.
Members Apendecto Posted November 20, 2005 Members Posted November 20, 2005 I'm going to do this next weekend when I have some time. How does this work after one play through the cd? If you put the cd on repeat are there other sync ups? Or is the first play through the good {censored}? Thanks.

Members Apendecto Posted November 20, 2005 Members Posted November 20, 2005 Yeah, I could set my cd player to repeat, but is there any need to? Yo.
