Members Gruven Posted November 21, 2005 Members Posted November 21, 2005 I bought this Mexi Fender Jazz about two weeks ago (yeah, I know... Paid for the name right?). I never plugged it in at the store because I knew before hand that I wouldn't like the pups. I just listened to the wood like I always do and it has a really nice accoustic tone. That being said, I replaced the pups with a DiMarzio Ultra Jazz set and put a BadAss II on it instead of the (as lug would put it) tin foil bridge that comes stock. Guys, it was even hard for me to believe the sounds that came out of this bass! I swapped back and forth between the SR5 and this thing all night and it sounds as good as, but different than, the Music Man and has more output than the MM (set flat). I've never gotten a better P-Bass tone out of a Jazz before. What a versatile bass! It's a keeper. Thanks again to the guys who recommended the DiMarzio's.

Are we going to hear the new bass soon?
Members Gruven Posted November 21, 2005 Author Members Posted November 21, 2005 Soon as I get around to picking up a cable that'll work. My tower is on a shelf, about 18" off of the floor and I'm afraid that a heavy cable with an adapter will damage the input jack on my sound card. I'll get a lighter 1/8 th inch cable for it soon.

Members Johnny Deeper Posted November 22, 2005 Members Posted November 22, 2005 Did you have to do any special routing of the pickup cavities to accomodate DiMarzios on the MIM's? I have a MIM Jazz and have thought about upgrading the pickups, but how the hell did you fit 'em in there?
