So I have had a little time to play and adjust and tweak my new rig and thought I would share.

First the Bass

G&L makes an amazing instrument. It is solid, well balanced and the neck is super easy to play. I did some adjusting on the bass and have the B string singing. Punchy and versatile would describe this bass to a T. The electronics are completely unique and wonderful. I have heard people say that they can get any tone they need out of a bass, but never really experienced it for myself until I wanked around on this thing. It's fairly light and really comfy to play. I love it and will not be getting rid of it...ever!

The antique:) 800RB

Well this thing just absolutely kills. I have had heads that ran 3 times the wattage ::cough::Ampeg::cough::Eden::cough:: that couldn't keep up with this thing. It's simple, reliable and loud. It is a great head provided you like the sound of GK, which is fairly mid heavy with a lot of growl. It isn't warm like some heads, but it has a wonderful sound. I love it, and I think this one sounds different than the Newer models, and it is built like a brick {censored}house! If you can get your hands on an older model, do it. I got mine for 300 bucks.

The Aggie (4 ohm) 2x12

Well..I have to say that I thought I would love this cab...and I am sorry to say that I won't be getting rid of this one either!:thu:

It's great, loud and handles the newly setup B string with ease, even at high volumes. Like others have said, the horn can be hissy, but I turn it down a bit and it runs great. I love the sound of this cab and think that it pairs excellently with the GK as it is a bit warm and bassy but with the ability to have a real growly presence.

Overall, I absolutely love my rig. I have never been happy with my equipment. I think I have found a rig that works for me. It didn't cost me 5K either. I spent $1700 on the whole thing and I have never been happier. Even with my Custom Hanewinckel, although it had a tone to die for, the G&L rivals in quality and sound. I always use to think that quality was pricey. Not true at all, you just have to clear your head of all the crap. Take time, try things out and find what works for you. That is what I did and I have found a rig that I am finally content with keeping. Good luck to those in search of their sound..I have found mine!

P.S. I will have another Hanewinckel!!

Thanks and hope you guys get something out of this.

Nice rig. I'm so glad I didn't sell my 800RB over the years in my quest for the "tone".

I think I've accomplished my perfect sound (for now;) ) with my latest cab acquasition. Not quite as portable as your rig though.

I'll be honest, I've been GASin' for a GK 1001RB-II with a 410 cab... LOUD!!!

I did have a 1001 RB, actually 2 because they both blew up within a matter of 15 minutes. I don't like the tone controls on them. I do dig the 2001 one though. Otherwise I stick with the 400,700, and 800RB's. I think that GK makes great amps that, if they make it through the first year, will last forever.
