Members Coda Posted November 26, 2005 Members Posted November 26, 2005 I plan on building a bass cabinet I was wondering if anyone here has built one? Are there any guides available? What materials would be ideal?
Members zenfascist Posted November 26, 2005 Members Posted November 26, 2005 There's a speaker building section in the FAQ that should give you all the information you'll need.
Members Rhythmalism Posted November 26, 2005 Members Posted November 26, 2005 Since it's up to you, you can tune it and build it to your tastes. There's plenty to consider: number and size of speakers, tuning, cab size, materials, finish.... I dig plywood for the cab itself, as it's lighter than mdf or particle board . Cool project, good luck.
Members Crescent Seven Posted November 27, 2005 Members Posted November 27, 2005 Look up winISD and download it, it will help you design your box with the proper port size and dimensions. There is a walkthrough of winISD in the FAQ Speaker Building section. I just built this cab: I used 3/4" Plywood. That's going to be your best option unless you're super keen on working with particleboard, which I am not. C7
Members sunburstbasser Posted November 27, 2005 Members Posted November 27, 2005 Hey C7- Did you rip those corner protectors off of an Avatar?
Members Crescent Seven Posted November 27, 2005 Members Posted November 27, 2005 Nope. They're like 58 cents a piece at www.usspeaker.com For the price, they're pretty sturdy, too. C7

If I get down to Denver on the 23rd, I might have to try out your cabs.
