Members baracuda2004 Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 well i was just wondering cause i can get some car speakers that can handle alot more wattage then many guitar speakers i could find, for alot cheaper cause i know some people selling some they have for pretty cheap, if i'm not mistaken they are a good brand...anyways i'm building a cab from scratch and i was just wondering if this would work without out damaging the speakers cause i don't want to build it only to have wasted money...
Members rovito Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 Car speakers seem to have decent specs but will just not get as loud as pro audio speakers in a live situation. If its just for jamming in your badroom they can sound pretty good.
Members venturawest Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 i would strongly discourage that. they're not rated for that type of power or frequency range. ever tried to play your bass through a home stereo 15" speaker, for example? i tried that once - in high school - let's just say it was a failure of epic proportion.
Members ToeJamFootball Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 or jammin in your car, now that would be a funny site. cruisin down the street while jammin on bass to your fav cd ha!! ToeJam
Members baracuda2004 Posted November 30, 2005 Author Members Posted November 30, 2005 appreciate the advice now i don't have to go through all that trouble just to throw it off a cliff when it doesn't work... LOL
Members baracuda2004 Posted November 30, 2005 Author Members Posted November 30, 2005 my singer and i have actually done that about a year agop, but i used a 10 watt IBANEZ amp and a peavey generation guitar and stripped the cord and soldered it to a cellphone lighter plug or something of that nature we found in his shop and we were jamming very loudly till we got to the MCDONALDS drive-through and they refused our order, so we just sat at the window with it cranked as loud as possible for like 10 minutes and they were like what the hell, so i screamed out "WELL AT LEAST IT'S NOT RAP" (the funny part they were all african-american and well...very angry looking after that comment, needless to say i go to the other MCDONALDS now) oh yeah to give you the visual we were in a little GMC '92 SONOMA single cab, and my singer sucked horribly at guitar at the time especially while trying to hold the amp and guitar in his lap at the same time he played... LOLOLOLOL were so evil, or retarted i'm not sure which i've been called both many times,
Members Apendecto Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 I think I read somewhere from JazzAd where you have a guitar input to RCA leads and just plug into the back of your car stero. That's useless AND funny! Yo.

Me being an African American do not find behavior like that funny. How do others feel about this? Do they find it funny also?

Do they find it funny also? i don;t, and i'm not african american. i've worked my share of {censored}ty jobs tho, and having a bunch of priviliged white kids making my job suck, or alternately making fun of a sucky job, is not really fun or funny. back to the topic at hand. most car speakers will sound like absolute garbage for pro audio apps. most car speakers CANNOT handle more wattage than pro audio speakers. they are usually 4 or 8 ohms, and handle whatever they are rated at PEAK. most pro audio speakers are 16ohm and rated rms. plus car subs are usually subs, while most bass speakers are full range. plus, sensitivity is garbage. just poking around crutchfield, raw car speakers are in the range of 91db... you connect a box full of car speakers to a bass amp, they may only sound terrible, or they may shoot across the room. thats not including things like xmax and cabnet design/porting ect...
Members Emprov Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 A keys player that I worked on a few projects with tried this. He blew the speakers after about two weeks of farily light duty.
Members baracuda2004 Posted November 30, 2005 Author Members Posted November 30, 2005 hey i wasn't trying to be mean, but they wouldn't take our order.. and it wasn't even because of the guitar cause we stopped playing soon as we got in line at the drive-through, my clock on my truck and my watch both said it was 11:58p.m. when we got to the SPEAKER and their sign said they closed at 12:00a.m. and they also let the car infront of us order and go ahead, but then when we got to the window they said."sorry we're closed" so i said "you've still got 2 minutes" we got no answer, so then we preceeded with said annoying action.. see look here i go to fast food places everyday and i expect them to at least stay open till the times their signs say to make up for the greasy fattening foods, you stiff me in line, i'll jack off in your ears...WITH MY GUITAR...well bass now..
Members BEAD Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 Well... if your watch and truck clock agree, the clock in the store must be wrong.
Members baracuda2004 Posted November 30, 2005 Author Members Posted November 30, 2005 well what can you do they let the vihecl ahead of us go and order, this has also happened at TACO BELL, but seeing as how i don't want to piss them off cause they are the only one around here and happen to be my favorite fast food place i just quietly left, but we have like 7 or 8 MCDONALDS here so i wasn't worried

You've obviously never worked in a restuarant.
Members baracuda2004 Posted December 1, 2005 Author Members Posted December 1, 2005 no i work at a grocery store "night stocking" and we are supposed to close at 11:00p.m. but are policy is to stay open till every customer is gone no matter how late even if they are only buying like 1 or 2 items and have been in there for an hour already, i've seen some customers stay there till 12:30 or 1:00a.m. and make our checkers who were supposed to have gotten off at 11:00 have to stay till the last customer was gone, so i guess i just expect that since the store i work at cares enough about the customer enough to pay 7 dollars an hour to a checker and only might recieve 4 or 5 bucks from a person who makes the checker work over 2 hours(-14 dollars + 5 from the person=-9, so we would lose money in this case)... i just figured we care enough most other people should too, and when they just stopped us litteraly feet from the window it really pissed me off and when you do that you PAY...
Members FARGreg Posted December 1, 2005 Members Posted December 1, 2005 Restuarants won't kick you out either once you're in...
