Members J the D Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 It's gonna be real hard to beat the 4 ohm Avatar SB-112 Neo powered by the Ashdown Mag 300. Combined rig available from Avatar for $550 delivered. That a lot of capability.
Members JeffBass Posted November 30, 2005 Members Posted November 30, 2005 Is one speaker enough for you? I would go with the Avatar 2x12 (4 ohm) so you can push more air if you need it (like on stage). You can always turn down but you can't exceed the limits of 1 speaker. That head pumps outs 307 watts at 4 ohms, eh? That's plenty of power for most situations but if your cab is already 4 ohms, you can't add another cab.
Members T. Alan Smith Posted December 1, 2005 Members Posted December 1, 2005 I'm getting my friends' son set up with a Peavey Max700 and a DrBass 2x10(4 ohm). It's certainly more expensive than the Avatar rig, but I'm trying to help out a local vendor. The Max will run 2 ohm easily for when he's ready to add a matching DrBass cab. In the meantime, it will should still be plenty loud. It also sounds pretty decent with the kind of simple/elegant interface I prefer. He'll never outgrow this rig.

That is also a very nice deal.... Mag 600 + BS112 Neo = $780...
