apparently SX guitars arnt as good as SX basses, you should search for a second hand Ibby, if you go RG, go Rg500 or up.

Yeah i played an essex strat and it felt like poo. I'd go for the mexican strat if i were you.

If the guitars aren't that great, get a Cort. Better than MIM Fender for sure, and many models are cheaper than a comparable Fender or Epiphone.

Check out old USA made Peaveys on the bay, can be had for 150$, really good guitars, and many black, with white pickguards and maple neck, strat or tele shaped.

also look into the Peavey Raptor. I bought my nephew one (a Fat Strat: hum/single/single clone) and it was an incredible guitar. Gorgeous transparent finishes.
