Members der oxenrig Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 FINALLY!!! We don't have to try out anymore drummers! The drummer we have today, he's been playing since he was a lil kid, and plays both rock & jazz. We tried him out today, and immediately knew he fit perfectly. We have some recordings on our MySpace (Mango Man No Vocals & Euphoria). Euphoria almost has a metal sound to it, and was alot of fun to play. We just wrote it last week. I haven't recorded lyrics yet because my voice is kinda shot, but will once it's better. Anyways, what do you think of our new recordings?
Members fretless Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 yeah Euphoria fn' rocks ! m/

Members 78pbass Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 Nice stuff Sean! I m proccessing exactly what I head - new and fresh stylistically, but not unfamiliar. Very Much RnR - thank you for that - tired of emo and other lame unfeeling crap.
Members NeonVomit Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 Cool song! I like. Great drummer too.
Members HelterSkelter Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 you have damn good bass sound.......how do you get it?

Members 82Daion Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 You seem to have shed the Iron Butterfly quality you had when I last listened. Sounds pretty good! Nice find on the drummer.
Members Tag Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 Good stuff man!!! I especially like Euphoria...great riffs, good energy, very enjoyable to listen to. I usually hate the stuff people post on these boards, lol. One minor note - might want to de-metalize the guitar solo on Euphoria a bit, seems a bit too shredder for the song...what I mean is that a slower, but more powerful and evocative. Make sense? Or...you could just ignore anything I say, since you seem to be doing pretty good without me until this point... Btw, that drummer makes me quite envious. I've been looking a long time for someone with similiar skills, to no avail...

Make sense? Yeah, I hate the solo on Euphoria, he goes into a mixalydian (sp?) scale and makes it sound wayyy too Kirk Hammet-ish. But that's the first take of that song. In fact, that was our first DAY with the drummer. He's a {censored}in prodigy.
Members speddling Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 you are making me regret selling that head to you Lordy is that a killer tone!!! You guys should cover some Wetton era King Crimson... That drummer seems skilled enough to handle some REAL prog stuff.
Members bassplayinguy Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 ok, i gotta know, what exactly is halitzer? I see that and i think howitzer, as in the machine gun. but ya..

It's basically a German surname i found that sounds like howitzer. So I just decided to use it because all the other names we came up with were too juvenille.
Members 78pbass Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 sounds like the Howitzer of bad breath: Halitosis + Howitzer = Halitzer
Members Benjamin Posted December 4, 2005 Members Posted December 4, 2005 Sounds awesome! I love frenetic drummers and how they push us bass players just that little bit harder. We end up doing some crazy stuff without thinking about it. Unfortunately it was a bit difficult to get an idea of the song because Myspace player definitely sucks. Myspace sucks fullstop, pity it is so popular.
Members willsellout Posted December 5, 2005 Members Posted December 5, 2005 Being a drummer myself, I think he overplays, but he does have skills. Like the song and really dig your bass tone. Dan
Members zenfascist Posted December 5, 2005 Members Posted December 5, 2005 Those are great songs. Clean up the rough spots and you'll have a couple of winners, maybe have the drummer to go easy on the fills just a tad. I'm interested to see what you decide to do on Euphoria in the way of vocals.

I was thinking of something like this: Drink some gin, commit a sin, On your life it trods. Shoot a gun, kill someone, Now you're playing God. Kill a dove, the bird of love Of evil, a plethora Best feeling in the whole wide world, Euphoria. Light a flame, a pyro game, Cause a big inferno. If you were me, you'd burn a tree Just don't do it solo. Set off a bomb, like in Vietnam, Cause total hysteria. Best feeling in the whole wide world, Euphoria. [solo] Drink some gin, commit a sin, On your life it trods. Shoot a gun, kill someone, Now you're playing God. Kill a dove, the bird of love. Of evil, a plethora Best feeling in the whole wide world, Euphoria. Only problem is, I wish I had a Lemmy voice to sing it right now.

I don't think the lyrics you use matter as much as the vocal melody you use and how you sing them, so keep that in mind.
