Frodo? That you Mr. Frodo? Never been there but know some people who have. They say it is a beautiful place with friendly locals. May be visiting next summer. :)

be ready for a culture shock and the best scenery in the world..with folks to go with it...it is a bit like the wild west before the settlers came in their 1000's...

my neighbour went there to stay..he said you could drive for quite a while and never see another car..

i guess the hawaii route is best for you...:)

ps christmas comes when its hot...

but being a CA man you probably dont even know what snow is..:D

I actually looked into this last year, and found out that it's a lot harder than you would think. They're quite proud of their country (rightfully so) and they don't want just anybody moving in. You have to fill out an application and be assigned a score that is based on your occupation and how badly they need that occupation there. I didn't get too much more involved with it than that, but let me put it this way: there are people who make a living off of helping you to emigrate to NZ.

All that having been said, it looks like a hell of a place to live. Good luck.

Cool! Time for an HCBF Convention in NZ! :D

Seriously, I've had that thought for years. And then I find that there's a major designer of amature boatbuilding plans from there (John Welsford). Then I find my brother's had the same thoughts. Hmmmmm... How much gear can I bring with me if I move there? ;)

I'd be moving to Auckland, most likely. Biggest city and all.
