Members Retrovertigo Posted December 11, 2005 Members Posted December 11, 2005 I don't know if someone already posted this. By JANET McCONNAUGHEY, Associated Press Writer Tue Dec 6, 6:59 PM ET NEW ORLEANS - Singer Harry Connick Jr. and saxophone player Branford Marsalis are working with Habitat for Humanity to create a "village" for New Orleans musicians who lost their homes to Hurricane Katrina. More than $2 million has been raised for the project dreamed up by Connick and Marsalis
Members Devinstation Posted December 11, 2005 Members Posted December 11, 2005 I wonder If I moved out there, and helped build houses out there if I could get a place to live, I'd LOVE living in a musician's village.
Members Phantasm Posted December 11, 2005 Members Posted December 11, 2005 Yeah, let's see if it's par for the course with everything else that is for "New Orleans Musicians;" if so, it should really say "for blues and jazz players only, with a smattering of guys who play covers on Bourbon St." Generally in this city if you don't do one of those three things, you aren't considered a "musician." I mean seriously... there are metal/rock guys who are homeless on the street right now but I doubt you'll see them included in any plans because quite simply they never are. I think it's great that they are wanting to help, just I hope that they help equally across genres.
