Members FARGreg Posted December 12, 2005 Members Posted December 12, 2005 So I have a final tommorow and have to write an essay on the following question: "The Israeli Palestinian Conflict is one of the most serious conflicts the world faces at present. Describe at least one each of the historical, cultural, political and personal factors that make it so difficult to find a solution to this problem. Do you believe a resolution is possible? If so what form should it take?" Unfortunatly in class we only talked about the subject for one class, not nearly enough time to get an understanding on such a complex conflict... The teacher did put some notes about it online http://www.redwoods.edu/instruct/klee/The%20Israeli%20Palestinian%20Conflict.htmbut I was hopeing some of you guys would have some more insight. thanks,Greg

How many words are you supposed to write? Is this Prof angling for the Nobel Prize by plagearizing the works of his students? (I have almost as many questions for HIM as he does for you...) Terse notes of my own follow. Historical: Those of the Judaic faith have been persecuted for as long as they have existed. They are not different from others on this point; persecution has no specific license. But their history AS a persecuted people dates back as far as --if not farther than any other records of such. (see Old Testament) Cultural: The difference in culture between Jewish persons and others is smaller than most presume, hence the persecution. They posses the same dynamic will to survive as anyone else. Political: The politics of Jewish people is not inseperable from thier religion, nor can any broad statments or generalities be made of it/them than can any other segment of the population. Personal: I'm not Jewish, but the global tumult which results from the conflict of others --many of whom are bigoted and narrow-minded-- in thier oppression of jewish persons costs me a considerable amount of money as a taxpayer. I do NOT however, consider it to be a poor investment to assist in deflecting efforts to exterminate portions of the population based on thier theology. Resolution Possible?: Absolutely. But it depends entirely on a change of heart among those who seek the destruction of jewish people. Form?: See above. Use any of this as you see fit. Or not.
