Members Capoeira.tom Posted December 19, 2005 Members Posted December 19, 2005 Right guys and gals...stoopid question time! I am currently running an SansAmp PSA-1 (pre amp) through the poweramp section of an Ampeg SVT2Pro (Don't ask why, it just sounds sweet!). Should I get rid of the SVT2Pro and get a dedicated Poweramp (the new Ampeg SVP 1600) or do you think I should keep the current SVT2Pro and live with it? All other ideas about good tube poweramps for bass would be much apprieciated! Thanks in advance Tom

Members Capoeira.tom Posted December 19, 2005 Author Members Posted December 19, 2005 Thats exactly what I'm thinking! Just wondering what other people thought on the new power amp by Ampeg?
Members Jazz Ad Posted December 19, 2005 Members Posted December 19, 2005 I think bass tube power amps are overrated.Ridiculously expensive and heayy. They bring a little plus to the tone but not enough to bother about them IMO.For this kind of price you should be able to get a killer solid state PA amp.
Members melancholy mechanic Posted December 19, 2005 Members Posted December 19, 2005 i had an old svp1600. it was loud as hell but really heavy.

Members der oxenrig Posted December 19, 2005 Members Posted December 19, 2005 Tube poweramps aren't worthless if you're using a tube preamp. But since you aren't, why get a boat anchor that a lighter (and probably cheaper) power amp can do?
