Members Bluesman0511 Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Landing Bass Guitars makes the widest selection of short and medium scale basses of anyone I have found. I have been looking hard for 3 - 4 weeks and mostly what you find are cheap beginner basses or knock offs of long scale basses. I've found a few really excellent custom luthiers that are making what appears to be good axes, but they don't offer much in the way of options and none that I have found offered active electronics. Landing basses come in several flavors of short scale and a couple more medium scale models and even a medium scale 5 stringer. The pictured bass is their model L300 and is at the top of my short list at the moment. I have been seriously considering Landing axes for about a week now, until I read the reviews in Harmony Central this morning. Now I am foaming at the mouth, I am so hyped up to get this bad boy. http://www.harmony-central.com/Bass/Data4/Landing_Bass/ Of course I need to tone it down, 'cuz I gotta sell off my two Reverend basses to get enough moula to be able to afford it. This will also preserve my marriage. My wife has not objected too awful much about my current three basses, but that won't last forever. I have a 5 string Reverend Rumblefish (35" scale) that is 4 years old and a Rumblefish PJ (34" scale) that is only a year old. Both are in excellent condition and the PJ is a real looker. Both have the two tone Reverend hardshell case. Anyone who might be interested can PM me.
Members axe2 2001 Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Hey, got a web address? Funny, but i'm a guitar player and I just posted in the bass forum about a frettless and I always liked short scale bases. Do they make a frettless short scale? And how are the prices?
Members bnyswonger Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Wow..a strat bass. Sounds cool....wish I like EMGs better.
Members hobobot009 Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 I have my eyes set on this one. The prices are listed on the price page. They also make fretless basses. www.landingbass.com
Members axe2 2001 Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Whoaa, a bit pricey for me. They seem nice. I think i'm gonna start building short scale basses!

Yeah they are pricey compared to average prices from your major brand names, but they are reasonable compared with other custom basses and also when you consider that everything on them is quality. I don't think they cut any corners. BTW, I didn't see fretless basses on their website. I thought I had scoured every corner of that site, too. I'll have to give it another look.
Members no-logic Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Make sure and post some pics and a review once you get it. That's a very interesting concept he has.

They have it as an option on most of their basses. No pics though.
Members willsellout Posted December 23, 2005 Members Posted December 23, 2005 Those look killer. Priced nicely I think for a semi-custom. Dan

Dan The model L1 is pretty sweet. too!! This one is #2 on my short list. The two tone sunburst is really nice looking and they offer an optional maple fretboard...
