Members james on bass Posted January 3, 2006 Members Posted January 3, 2006 My guitarist and I were discussing amps and effects yesterday. He plugged in his effects through his effect's loop on the amp instead of part of the chain into the input and says he noticed a slight better sound. Should I be doing the same? Is there an advantage to using the amp's effect's loop instead of just bass->effects->amp?
Members SA Rios Posted January 3, 2006 Members Posted January 3, 2006 That is the reason why amps have effects loops. I've always done it that way if the amp I'm using has one. I really never noticed a sonic difference, though.
Members james on bass Posted January 3, 2006 Author Members Posted January 3, 2006 I guess it does mean a more direct bass to amp signal if you aren't winding through a bunch of patch-cords. I never bothered 'cause it was more trouble than it was wirht with only 1 pedal. Now with 3, I should give it a shot again - see if I notice a difference. Any other opinions on this?
Members hasbeen Posted January 3, 2006 Members Posted January 3, 2006 if you're using pro quality effects and amp with pro quality loop, you should notice a benefit with timed based effects- delays, chorus and phlange. Other effects should go between the bass and the amps.
