But of course, I left my amp at the rehearsal space.

Visually, it's a nice cab. The fit and finish isn't perfect, but I don't care about that stuff anyway.

I can't wait to plug it in. And I really can't wait until UPS decides to ship me my 5" Galaxy mid-range driver and crossover parts...they've been holding them in Chicago for 3 days.

Once I get that in there it should sound sweet.:thu:

I should also say, Dave was excellent to work with, the transaction was quick, honest and simple, and my cab was here in 2 business days.

The picture doesn't really do it justice...that's blue vinyl covering that box, textured with black highlights, and the baffle covering isn't quite as dark as that. It looks sweet, I think. I built it, though...:D

It looks like a fairly common Peavey 1x15 to me but with a dressed up baffle (looks like 1970's wallpaper) and an oversize waffle grill. The cab shape, the port size/location and the outer frame on the woofer all say Peavey. I like how you use an 18" speaker grill over the 15" driver. Did you use the Peavey design as an influence when you built it?

It's a Peavey Scorpion speaker, but I didn't use Peavey's design at all, at least I didn't intend to. Burdizzos actually helped me on that one, at least the dimensions and porting.

The oversized grille is a fluke; I built a cab to house an Altec Lansing 15" with a cast aluminum carriage that measured almost 17", so I had to use an 18'' grille. When I built this cab, I just used that grille, because the cab it was on wasn't working out.

I love my Avatar 210 so much, I made it my avatar!!

Although, actually, I'm looking to trade my 4 ohm 210 (Delta) for an 8 ohm 210. If anyone is interested in that trade in the Philly area, please PM me. I'd be willing to drive to make the switch.

Plugged into it for the first time tonight, the speakers sound awesome, but I didn't really get to crank it (townhome stylie).

One thing I did notice, though, is that the tweeter is extremely noisy, so much so that i had to turn it all the way down...

It's all good. Tomorrow, I'm going to install

290-020m.jpg

and put in a 500hz crossover. Tweeters don't belong in bass cabs...

So you'd recommend? Can you describe the sound for a noob?

If his Avatar 210 is used, it may be an older version who's description will be all but invalid for the new models.

They use different (better) speakers on the newer models, and the crossover is different.

The older 2x10 cabs kicked the pants off of Carvin's in terms of sound quality. Now the new ones look like they're gonna give even the big boys a run for their money.

Just Buy one! You'll have 2 weeks to evaluate it!

As I read the above, I had a mental image of you as a small red devil sitting on my shoulder: "Just buy one!"

The Delta I have is 1.5 yrs old. I think he uses the same speakers now. The crossover doesn't matter to me as I never turn the tweeter up anyway.

But I'm not the right person to describe it for ya. I haven't played through a lot of different modern cabs. It's better than the Peavey 15" combo I used to use, which was very boomy in retrospect.

Is it a PRO?

I have a 210 PRO, and it continues to amaze me every day. I have not plugged in my 15" PRO in weeks. The power handling combined with 300 tube watts gives me all the balls I need from the low B, and it gets great punch.
