I have been running direct from the pa to my bass head..

But I was thinking of trying mic'd.

I have a BP 200 pedal that I use..whats the point if I am running direct?.most of the sounds I get from it dont make it out to the audience anyway..

How do ya'll do it?

all of my FX are in-line between my bass and the amp, so if i go DI, my FX go too. i personally prefer mic'ed, but if the soundman has a definite preference, i go with his idea.

DI out from Ampeg pre mixed with the mic. I take my own mic with me, a ATM25.
:)

Between mic, DI or mic & DI, I'd still choose just the DI. I've tried it everyway possibly and nothing is ever clearer than just a DI (assuming the PA is capable).

I like to do both as a player and a soundman, but if I have to make a decision I will always choose a mic.

Hey Boalg! Long time no see!

onstage I like DI, it just makes everything just that much easier, fewer mikestands to trip over and whatnot

in the studio, I also usually DI (either straight into the desk or through my Ampeg preamp) but if i'm feeling frisky i might blend in a littl mic'd signal too
